TIER 4 carried out Energy Efficiency Potential Assessments for 9 companies in the Asphalt Industry. The assessment had as main goal to reduce energy consumption by increasing process and chain efficiency, assessing possibilities for renewable energy and giving companies insight in their own energy consumption.  A few of the most innovative energy efficiency measures:
  • Production of low temperature asphalt
  • Alternative bitumen admixture
  • Reuse of low-temperature waste heat
  • Agreements between consumers and production concerning logistical planning

This project was part of long-term agreements (LTA3) between the Dutch government and various sectors to voluntarily reduce their energy consumption.
